Delighted to welcome this supreme band from Portugal Dazkarieh formed in 1999 with the sole intention of making music that has several world cultures as it’s core inspiration. After their formation they quickly grew into one of the most active and original Portuguese music projects, by gathering instruments from different origins (Galician Bagpipe, Accordion, Transverse Flute, Irish Tin Whistles, African Percussion, Arab Percussion, Bass and Guitar) and creating vocalisations in an imaginary language, created by the group itself, with the purpose of treating the human voice as an autonomous instrument.

After an international tour last year that took them to venues and festivals throughout Malaysia, Germany, Austria, Estonia, Poland, Spain and Portugal, the band returns with a new album (released April 2011) that shows a more mature group that explores their consolidated sound in Portuguese Traditional Music and also new musical paths exploring other music cultures. It’s unquestionable that Dazkarieh’s music is unique and  “Ruído do Silêncio” is further proof of that.

Dazkarieh are:

Joana Negrão: Voz (Voice), Pandeireta (Tambourine), Adufe (Square Drum)
Rui Rodrigues: Guitarra (Guitar), Cavaquinho
